    What is with the soft shoulder pads and helmets guys are wearing in rugby these days? We used to have a saying when I played, ‘only women wear pads’.

    Must have been a real fun drink up after the game. ha ha

    i hear that, dude. our scrum half wore those fag pads and we busted his balls for it all the time.. he plays semi-pro now, though, so he got the last laugh.

    i miss that shit. there’s no men’s clubs around here, any up in your neck of the woods?

    Yeah towards the tail end of my playing days there were guys that started wearing those shoulder pad things and we were all, what’s up with the pads? Most guys just had nothing but mouth pieces or maybe those ear protector things (or tape) ;)

    I am basically retired now though. Sometimes I’ll go out for a 7’s tournament during the summer for a club called The Dead Smileys. Basically a bunch of old drunks who are out there running around and not caring about the score ;)
